Man Dies in Seattle Car Accident

by admin on August 11, 2009

One man died when he lost control of his car on an off ramp on Interstate 5 near Boeing Field in Seattle.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the 48-year-old Seattle man was going southbound on I-5 when he tried to take the Michigan off ramp at a high rate of speed.

“Reports are it (the car) suddenly veered out of the fast lane, like it was going to take the exit here to Michigan Street,” said WSP Sergeant Mark Crandall. “It lost control and it went and slammed into the guardrail. As you can, see its extensive damage on the car.”

When the car hit the guardrail it flipped over the rail,  coming to a stop just off the shoulder near some trees.

The driver was taken to Harbor View Medical Center with critical injuries. He later died at the hospital.

According to a Crandall, while the road was wet, the road conditions didn’t seem to play a part in the accident.

The investigation will also see if drugs or alcohol were involved.
